Brief introduction of the speaker: Hongtao Hu is a professor, doctoral supervisor, Shuguang Scholar, Young Oriental Scholar, and Pujiang Talent. He has received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, and worked as a researcher at the National University of Singapore for two years. He is now the head of the Master's Program in Logistics Engineering and Management at Shanghai Maritime University and the head of Shanghai Key Courses. His main research interests are management and optimization of port and shipping, logistics and supply chain. He has published 23 SCI or SSCI papers, written two books, presided over two national self-science projects, one provincial and ministerial project, and one municipal project.

Report Overview: This research presents a two-stage stochastic programming model for yard template planning, with the aim of minimizing the maintenance and manpower costs of activating yard cranes for container handling and the carbon dioxide emitted from yard trucks. An improved Benders decomposition-based solution method is designed to solve the proposed model with large-scale problem instances. Several experiments were performed to validate the effectiveness of the model and the efficiency of the method.
